Abstract | This guide for teachers provides a basic kindergarten curriculum which can be adapted to meet the specific needs of any group of kindergarten children. The guide is divided into major curriculum areas and each area is presented to the teacher through an overview, statement of goals, description of activities, and annotated bibliography. Curriculum areas covered are: listening and speaking, developmental reading, literature, handwriting, mathematics, science, art, music, dramatics, motor skills, social studies, health and safety, human relations, and family living. Also included are discussions on observing children and parent-teacher relationships; a general bibliography; a suggested list of instructional materials; and a flexible time-block plan. (SB) |
