Abstract | In the fall of 1966, the School Mathematics Study Group embarked upon a four-year longitudinal study of mathematical learning in the primary grades, the Elementary Mathematics Project (ELMA). The primary purpose of the study was to assess children's progress in learning particular mathematical ideas during the beginning school years. This volume contains information related to the grade 1 tests. The first part of the volume contains procedures for giving the tests and the test batteries. The second part of the volume contains the description and statistical properties of the grade 1 scales derived from these test batteries. (RH) |
