| Abstract | The important phases of planning and constructing physical facilities for universities and colleges are brought together so that persons responsible for providing these facilities can readily evaluate their present policies and organizations. The subject is addressed from the point of view of the professional physical plant administrator. The text is a comprehensive treatment of methods that have been used successfully in the development of campuses, and it has application to other types of public projects as well as to profit-oriented facilities. Stressing not only what is needed, but also the whys and how, it is a guide for any planning and construction project. The appendixes contain (1) responses from 42 universities and colleges that contributed information on planning and construction; (2) brief case histories of seven universities and colleges; and (3) examples of forms, contracts, and agreements developed by planning and construction offices in these institutitons. A list of selected references and a subject index complete the book. (Author/MLF) |
