Abstract | This document is a tentative effort to lay out some of the components and implications of the "learning how to learn" concept. It is intended to be used in theory building and practical applications in the realm of adult education. Four chapters are included: The Concept (with the subheadings Concerning Terminology, The Learner's Needs, Some Special Contexts); Group Learning (with the subheadings Advantages of Group Learning, How to Use a Teacher, The Laboratory Method, Bradford's Theory and Model, The Indiana Plan and Participation Training, Community Development); Self-Directed Learning and Learning Style (with subheadings of Some Competencies, Learning from Experience Learning Style, Cognitive Style); and Training and Research (with subheadings of Three Programming and Learning Modes, Sources of Training, Training Guidelines and Observations, Differentiating Training Needs, Some Research Implications). A 48-item annotated bibliography is appended. (WL) |
