AbstractThe curriculum guide was developed to help adult education teachers, counselors, and administrators in planning and implementing creative and innovative activities in the field of career awareness and exploration. The curriculum units are intended to be used in conjunction with subjects usually taught. The definition, goals, and basic concepts of career education are presented. Subconcepts are listed for each of the five basic concepts: self, career, society, economics, and technology. Curriculum units are organized under the following general headings: (1) finding work: how one goes about it, what to expect; (2) keeping a job: attitudes, people, work; (3) helping oneself: planning, school, human relationships; and (4) handling finances: budgeting and buying. Each unit lists the unit topic, subject area, grade level, related concept, and subconcept, and outlines performance objectives, suggested activities, teacher preparation, vocabulary, suggested resource persons and field trips, resources and materials, subject matter tie-ins, and methods of evaluation. Space is provided for the addition of other activities and resources, and blank lesson plan forms are included for teacher utilization. Also included are a bibliography, list of free and inexpensive materials, and a suggested list of resource materials for purchase. (RG)
