Abstract | To help plan for the future of educational broadcasting, a survey was conducted of its goals and present status and anticipated future, and recommendations were made. Extensive available literature was reviewed, a number of broadcast facilities visited, and more than 60 station managers interviewed, along with managers of agencies and foundations concerned. Current distribution, programing and funding and administration are described, and alternatives for the future considered. A summary predicts an unavoidable separation between public broadcasting and the support of formal education, and suggests ways this might be affected. Appendixes include lists of stations and groups contacted, financial statistics, and descriptions of emerging technologies. (SK) |
