Abstract | The aim of this project was to set up a building that completely fulfilled the educational requirements for a cost-level of semi-permanent (at least 20 years) school buildings. Because of factors that made forecasting the exact future function of this school difficult, and also because building and activities were expected to change continuously, it was decided to construct an experimental building. The building was to (1) have higher educational and functional qualities than the traditional semi-permanent school buildings, (2) be suited for repetition in other parts of the Netherlands, (3) be adaptable to the permanent and changing educational situations; and (4) have the same cost-level as that of traditional semi-permanent buildings. This document describes how the facility was planned in consultation with teachers and pupils to meet structural and educational needs and presents comparative cost aspects. Floor plans and cost analysis tables accompany the text. (Photographs may reproduce poorly.) (Author/MLF) |
