Abstract	The Danish initial vocational training programmes (IVT) are organized as alternating educations. Education in a school or a college alternates with practical training in a firm, and the success of the dual system depends on this alternation and a close interrelation of the school-based and firm-based parts. Various studies however show that the students do often not perceive this interrelation or benefit from it, and it is required to study what might improve the students' ability to do so. In this connection it is necessary to define what kind of interrelation is needed. In this article the author first briefly describes the Danish IVT-system focusing on how the organization, regulation and legislation of the educations constitute a basis for an interrelation of the school-based and firm-based parts or of the theoretical and practical parts. Then he wants specifically to focus on the commercial educations and describe some of the problems concerning the establishment of the interrelation. Finally he tries to define the optimal interrelation. (DIPF/orig.).
