| Abstract | Radicalisation is a complex interplay of individual, group and societal factors that are mutually dependent. To be able to discuss radicalisation and its individual trajectories and causes in a clear and targeted manner, this article provides clarification on the significance of macrosocial factors such as perceptions of discrimination on radicalisation processes. This question ties in with previous qualitative research in the context of discrimination and radicalisation, providing a first insight into current scientific surveys within the RIRA project and identifying the current need for research. We distinguish between a narrow and a broad understanding of radicalisation. Radicalisation in the narrow sense refers to a linear process culminating in the final stage of violence. Broader radicalisation, on the other hand, does not presuppose the final stage of the use of violence, but observes radicalisation without violence, into violence, and within violence. |
