Abstract | The paper examines the questions of when, with what intentions and how the teaching of music received initiatives towards creativity. The historiographic inquiry shows the existence of certain periods. Five periods reflecting the varied history of the teaching of music since 1969 in the mirror of different concepts of creativity, are distinguished. Furthermore the intentions from the side of the didactics of music are systematically analysed under the aspect of creativity, and the selected concepts are discussed relating them to the American ideas of creativity. Finally categories for ordering the ways of reception are brought to work, and the claim for a manner of reception posing its question from an aspect specific to the field of music is established.
