Abstract	The global pandemic has led to a sharp rise in demand for innovative teaching concepts, particularly for virtual field trips. Teacher educators now face the opportunity and challenge of designing virtual field trips while trying to capitalize on the benefits of traditional field trips. Over the past 12 months, digital field trip guides have emerged as a solution to this problem. These guides are a hybrid of Learning On-site and Virtual Excursions. They take learners through self-led field excursions. This chapter focuses on the approach teacher educators should take to guide pre-service teachers through such digital field trips, and how these educators can teach students to develop and effectively use digital guides in their own teaching. The merits and challenges of such teaching methods are shared through inclusion of a case study.
