The aim of this article is to focus on the possibilities of professional acting in social work in migration contexts. The results are derived from interviews conducted by the research project ProZiS. Our main finding shows that professionals' self-perceptions and helping concepts are influenced by the known ambivalence between help and control and by further tensions. Social workers act and position them- selves within these tensions and they have developed methods and practices to address contradicting aspects of their work. |
