Abstract | This talk provides an insight into a qualitative study concerning the training of professional musicians in the former German Democratic Republic, focusing on the example of the Spezialschule für Musik Dresden. On the basis of interviews about their life stories, the viewpoints of those involved at the time (students as well as teachers) were reconstructed, with the aim of arriving at a "conjunctive experiential space" that influenced these viewpoints in specific ways. This pursuit consisted chiefly in unearthing the tacit knowledge common to all those active within this experiential space. By means of the "documentary method", the central pedagogical antinomies that informed this experiential space were obtained. Two of these antinomies, that between the exceptional and the standardized and that between autonomy and heteronomy, will be presented towards the end of the talk. (DIPF/Orig.). |
