Abstract | Interpretivism is a theory that articulates sport from a combined moral-aesthetic perspective. This paper explores the full range of interpretivism's normative consequences for organized youth sport. After explaining the tenets of interpretivism, it elaborates on the concept of youth and then on the role that adults have during this period of life. These two steps allow for an integrated and cogent account of organized youth sport that takes into consideration both its moral and aesthetic dimensions. In turn, all this demonstrates that the adults typically involved in organized youth sport should honor and foster an integrated and cogent account of organized youth sport. The paper concludes by analyzing two popular curricular models (Sport Education and Tactical Games) used to introduce youth to sport. It shows that they not only fail to explicitly recognize the aesthetic dimension of sport but also that they would benefit from openly adopting interpretivism's combined mora!-aesthetic perspective and implications for sport as well as by endorsing its normative consequences.
