Abstract | The 2008 Beijing Olympic Games witnessed the pinnacle of China's elite sport prowess. Of particular note, 62 winners of the 51 gold medals were developed by its sport schools. This chapter describes and analyses policy and management of elite youth sport in China. Fieldwork for this study was mainly conducted in Beijing and Zhejiang province, both Situated in China's economically advanced regions. Thus, caution is required when using findings of this chapter to interpret the overall development of elite youth sport in China. (geändert). (Autor). |
