Abstract | In 2015 the Tchaikovsky branch of Chelyabinsk State Institute of Physical Culture celebrates its 35th anniversary. In 1995 it has transformed into Tchaikovsky State Institute of Physical Culture. The Institute has at its disposal modern educational, scientific and sports facilities. In 2012, the Federal training center for winter sports was established as a part of Chelyabinsk State Institute of Physical Culture, its sports facilities were licensed international sports federations of FIS and IBU. In recent years more than 40 contests were conducted at the university premises including: Russian Championships, final contests in Nordic Combined, biathlon, ski jumping; 5 international competitions were organized together with the Russian Ski jumping and Nordic Combined federation. All major curricula were accredited within the educational activity; were licensed for educational activity for the master's programs of "Physical Culture" and "Management"; the first class of masters in "Physical Education" is graduating in 2015. Research is an important part of the work of the university: annual All-Russian theoretical-practical conferences; research work carried out in eight priority areas in the departments. The university achievements in recent years include active involvement in the preparation and staging of the XXII Olympic Winter Games and the XI Paralympic Winter Games of 2014 in Sochi; great contribution made by the faculty, staff and students who participated as judges and volunteers in Olympic and Paralympic games (approximately 70 persons). Students and graduates honorably represent Russia at major competitions such as: the XXlI Olympic Winter Games - 11 students and graduates (three silver and bronze medals); World Winter Universiade (Italy, 2013) - 7 students (five gold, two silver and three bronze medals).
