Abstract | The general purpose of this study is to solicit the opinions of candidates who take special ability examinations for schools of physical education and sports and of coaches who prepare such candidates for said examinations, and determine whether doping tests should be carried out during such examinations. The study is a survey type work that captures the existing facts. 148 candidates and ten coaches participated in the study. Quantitative data was collected in a questionnaire, and qualitative data was captured by an interview form. The questionnaire was administered to candidates taking such examination, and the interview form to the coaches. Findings suggest that coaches think that doping tests should be administered in such examinations. Most of the coaches think that the candidates they coach might be using doping without the knowledge of coaches. Candidates on the other hand expressed that they would take doping if it were not harmful to their health, and they would not tolerate the use of doping by other candidates. It was discovered that the propensity to use doping tends to increase given the number of examinations taken by candidates. For a fair examination, doping tests should be administered during special ability examinations. Verf.-Referat. |
