Abstract	NILE brings together adult education organisations and networks from 20 countries in order to promote intercultural learning in adult education across Europe. NILE started off with 13 partners in a first working phase from 2002 to 2005. The continued support from the European Commission for a second phase running until September 2008 has enabled new partners to join the network. This brochure has been structured according to the different goals and concepts that NILE partners have used to demonstrate 'good practice' in their countries. Some case studies have given the authors an opportunity to identify 'guiding principles' of 'intercultural learning' and demonstrate - in Chapter I - how they have been applied in Austria, Finland and Germany. Other case studies have clearly shown that empowerment and capacity building is a crucial first step towards intercultural learning. In Chapter II examples from Belgium, Latvia, the Netherlands and the UK illustrate some success stories. It also became obvious that often intercultural learning takes place outside a structured educational framework. Examples of very different settings, in which learning can take place from Bulgaria, Cyprus, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Spain are presented in Chapter III. (DIPF/Orig./Ba.).
