(DIPF/Orig.). This contribution will start out with an explanation of the increasing interest in evaluation, which is based on developments in the discipline of education science and in educational policy. An understanding of evaluation as a process will be elucidated and further differentiated by means of three paradigms (research, development, legitimation/control). Sources of standards which are appropriate to each paradigm are subsequently sought: Standards of scientific method, professional standards for evaluators and standards, which have evolved from the existing experience within school evaluation projects will be presented. The different meanings of each within the context of the three paradigms are examined. Finally the potential utility of standards in school evaluation is discussed. (DIPF/Orig.). |
