Abstract	The purpose of Statistics Portugal is that the Statistical Yearbook of Portugal (SYP), in general, and the 2007 issue, in particular, stands for a publication of reference, in terms of economic and social data, providing readers/users with a quantitative view of the evolution of national reality. The current edition follows the structure of the previous one but incorporates two new subchapters, 'Income and Living Conditions' and 'Domestic Trade', besides introducing relevant changes in some usual subchapters. The SYP 2007 compiles a vast range of statistical information (the most updated data at the cut-off date for the tables included in this issue, on 30 September 2008), which is presented as tables, charts and texts of statistical analysis.
