Abstract | "The research field of intergenerational relationships has developed significantly over the past twenty years. In Germany, however, the primary focus has been on the German-born population so far. On the background of a large aging process in the migrant population and based on nationwide data of the German Aging Survey and the Socioeconomic Panel, this book addresses intergenerational family resources of first-generation immigrants in Germany. Conceptualizations of parent - adult child relationships in the sociological fields of family and aging are linked to discussions about family relationships in migration research. Following a comparative perspective and an explanatory approach, this book offers information about the similarities between immigrants and non-migrants regarding parent - adult child relationship patterns as well as the uniquenesses to be observed in an immigration context."
