Abstract	"In respect of its contents, the new edition of the 'STATISTICAL YEARBOOK OF LATVIA 2008' is the exhaustive annual publication of the Central Statistical Bureau offering a broad picture of socio-economic phenomena and processes in the country. Most data cover 1990, 1995 and the period 2000-2007. The contents structure of the yearbook is inline with Eurostat, Statistical Office of the European Communities, data dissemination themes. Statistical indicators are published in 10 thematic chapters comprising more than 700 tables, graphs and maps on the territory of the Republic of Latvia, sociopolitical situation, economy and finance, population and social processes, economic activities, science and technologies as well as international comparisons of the key statistical indicators. Each thematic chapter contains several subheadings, which begin with a list of contents, short introduction covering definitions and methodological description of main indicators as well as information on sources and methodology used in calculation of selected indicators."
