Abstract	'Die Vorstellung des 'lebenslangen Lernens' bezieht sich immer stärker nicht nur auf die erwerbsarbeitsorientierte Aus- und Weiterbildung, sondern auf ein Lernen, welches den gesamten Lebenslauf einschließt. Sowohl demografische Faktoren als auch Fragen der gesellschaftlichen Integration der älteren Menschen sind Gründe dafür, sich mit Bildung im Alter zu beschäftigen. Das Thema dieses Artikels bildet das bestehende Bildungsangebot für ältere Menschen in Österreich. Der Beitrag beruht auf einer Studie, die vom Bundesministerium für Soziale Sicherheit, Generationen und Konsumentenschutz finanziert wurde. Ziel war die Untersuchung der Bildungsangebote für ältere Menschen aus dem Blickwinkel von Bildungsorganisationen. Befragt wurden sowohl ExpertInnen als auch KursleiterInnen der Bildungsarbeit mit älteren Menschen. Als zentrales Ergebnis kann eine Vielfalt von Angeboten und Anbietern identifiziert werden - die Zahl der Kurse ist allerdings insgesamt gering. Mit Bildung im Alter verknüpfen die KursleiterInnen sowohl kustodiale (betreuende, fürsorgende) Aspekte als auch Aspekte der Wissensvermittlung und Kompetenzen der Alltagsbewältigung.' (Autorenreferat). 'The idea of lifelong learning does not only refer to employment-related education and further education, but also to learning in the context of the whole life cycle. Demographic factors, as well as issues pertaining to integration of the elderly in society, represent reasons for dealing with education in higher age. The topic of the presented article focuses on educational opportunities for the elderly, already in place, and refers to a study, which was financially supported by the Austrian Ministry of Social Security, Generations and Consumer Protection. More particularly, the study investigated the educational opportunities from the perspective of the providing institutions. In this context, we conducted interviews with experts and course instructors, who deliver education to older individuals. One of the key findings stresses the existence of a variety of educational opportunities and providing institutions - however, there are only relatively few courses being offered. According to experts, education for elderly people is connected with custodial aspects, but also with aspects concerning knowledge transfer and skills for daily living.' (author's abstract)\|.
