Abstract | For [the author], teaching foreign languages means being aware of the fact that the part played by the learner's personality is more important than in any other subject. English has endless purposes and connotations. To motivate pupils who do not choose to learn English but have to, a handson programme is of the essence, hence the choice every year of a thematic project leading to a study in the targeted country. The project includes several other subjects such as literature, science, biology, civilization and a good team of teachers as well as the use of new technologies. [The author] believes that for older students it is necessary to acquaint them with foreign cultures and civilizations to broaden their minds. This approach should invariably be followed by a European or international experience of significant length. (DIPF/orig.). |
