Abstract	The discussion during this conference, which took place in September 2002 in Bratislava, resulted in the conclusion that the problem of equality of opportunities in adult education is important in all the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, regardless of their economic level, life standard of the population and the situation in their educational systems. This problem is not only important, but it requires a decisive, prompt and effective solution. Therefore it is necessary to reinforce the close co-operation as to the exchange of andragogical theory and practice on an international level, especially on the part of the countries supposed to enter the European Union within a short time. The improved exchange of knowledge between researchers, but also institutions of adult education daily organizing the educational programmes for the adults thus becomes inevitable even.
