Abstract	The author gives "a short overview of European Community Sex Equality Law, especially the Council directive of 9th of February 1976 on the implementation of the principle of equal treatment for men and women regarding access to employment, vocational training and promotion and working conditions" (and) presents the sources for EC Sex Equality Law: "First, Art. 119 of the EC Treaty provides that men and women should receive equal pay for equal work.... The second source of EC Sex Equality Law has been, until now, six so-called directives which contend with different matters concerning women's employment and social security. The formal difference between Art. 119 and these directives is that the former provision has a direct effect within the Member States, the directives indicate only the aim and the direction of a particular subject area; generally they have to be implemented by the national laws of the Member States.... The third and very important source of EC Sex Equality Law are the judgements of the European Court of Justice concerning matters of sex equaltiy." Finally the author is analysing the impact of European Community Sex Equality Law in Greece. (DIPF/orig.).
