Abstract	This book is written to help students "make a smooth transition from the school classroom to a meaningful job." It first explains the basic concept of cooperative education. This "is a school program designed to prepare students for work. It is called cooperative because an employer and a school join together and cooperate as a team. The program enables students to work with full-time employees in business and industry. It also gives students an opportunity to learn at two places -at school and at work." Part 1 tells the pupils "what your school expects" and "what your employer expects." Part 2 describes the skills which are needed for a successful vocational education (e. g. communicating, math and computer skills, safety at the job.) Part 3 gives advices for career planning and Part 4 for the jobhunt. In Part 5 it is told how to succeed on the job and in the economic system and how to gain job satisfaction. Part 6 contains advices for managing the income (managing spending, using credit, banking, saving and investing, handling insurances). (DIPF/ Bi).
