Abstract | "This book considers the extent to which relationship within school systems have been changing in the wake of recent government policies -especially policies intended to raise standards through competition derived from parental choice of school coupled with devolved school management." "The book is less a critique of policies and more of a consideration of implications for the future. Taking as given the new Systems of English Education Reform Act (ERA) of 1988 and its Scottish and other counterpart developments, we have looked at their effects on relationships and have considered how to build upon them considerately for the benefit of learners both at school and beyond." Some issues of the 16 articles of the book are: Reflections on collaboration and partnerships in general and in the market model, partnership between parents and teachers, "school management in the marketplace", cooperation between further education and schools, "partnerships between higher education and schools in the field of teacher education", school governors as agents of the community/state and of the school, evaluation of the school by parents, cooperation between schools and business and the development of opted-out schools.(DIPF/Vorwort/Bi). |
