Abstract | Chapter one of this report gives a brief survey of the development of Armenia's educational system until 1988, and of the main reforms required as a result of recent political, economic and social changes. Chapter 2 characterizes the social role of education, and the main principles of state educational policy. It presents the structure of the Armenian educational system including the education management and state guarantees for the development of education. Chapter 3 reviews the process of educational reform since 1989, its urgent tasks, priority programmes and difficulties in implementation. Chapter 4 contains tables and graphics with figures and facts on the development of the educational system until the year 1993/94. (DIPF/ St.). |
