Abstract	The majority of the contributions ... to this reader on the current situation of young people, on youth policy and on the state of European youth exchange ... were written as papers for the "Conference on Youth exchange between East and West" that was held in Potsdam (Brandenburg, FRG) in March 1993. Therefore the main emphasis in the first chapters is placed on establishing the current level of activities in Europe, on describing existing youth exchange programmes, and on questions relating to the creation of new East-West programmes. The reports which follow present information, mainly from the point of view of the responsible ministries in the countries concerned, on national developments and priorities in youth policy. In the supplement further articles and papers have been included which serve as a useful complement to the main body of the text. Here, representatives of youth organizations, academics and youth politicians express their views in pertinent and innovative contributions. (DIPF/orig.).
