Abstract	The leading thesis of this paper is: the change "from a "dual" to a "plural" system of learning locations cannot be stopped and is absolutely essential for the modernisation of vocational training. The paper is divided into the following parts: 1) Vocational training in Germany - from a "dual" to a "plural" system of VET locations; 2) Learning locations in the industry and the craftsmen's trade; 3) Action- oriented learning in the vocational school; 4) Co-operation between vocational schools and training firms - approaches and problems.
