Abstract	This article aims to provide an overview of recent and current research on general quantitative trends and on some specific themes in international student mobility in the Netherlands.... First, basic statistical data on the different student flows from and to the Netherlands will be presented. An analysis of the different flows and trends will be linked to the characteristics of the different policies and programmes that support the mobility of both incoming and outgoing students. Second, a number of specific issues in international student mobility will be discussed: the role of student mobility in the wider process of internationalisation of higher education, the recognition of study abroad periods, the change in language of study and study environment, quality assurance and student mobility, the evaluation of study abroad experiences by employers and the costs and benefits of mobility. Finally, the future of student mobility will be examined from the perspective of newly developed policies and strategies, both at the governmental and institutional level. (DIPF/Text übernommen).
