AbstractThe violence experienced in Peru created deep divisions in the life of the country. After the armed conflict the social and political situation has degenerated into a division and radicalism around the experiences undergone. Therefore, the region of Ayacucho, one of the most struck by political violence is currently struggling against diverse forms of violence that affect the life of its people. In this context, and after analyzing the interviews held as a part of the fieldwork, talking to experts, and performing a theoretical addressment on the subject and on the armed conflict in Peru, we can draw the following conclusions: Aspects such as inequality, poverty, lack of resources and means of communication: have always been life conditions for the people from Ayacucho, and the sources that originated the Armed Conflict. Taking that into account, we can assert that the structural violence experienced in Ayacucho has been a permanent situation which affected its people. Likewise, discrimination against the Andean essence throughout history, has rendered the consequences of the conflict irrelevant for the making of political decisions. This discrimination is a part of cultural violence. Daily violence in the life of the people from Ayacucho included as well, the number of homicides, the people who disappeared, mass graves, human rights violations, threats, and many other forms as a representation of direct violence. Teachers in Ayacucho werepermanently mistreated with political violence by the State due to the unfolding of demonstrations before the conflict. In a certain moment violence was also exerted by the PCP Sendero Luminoso. These situations exposed teachers to situations of death, persecution, incarceration, torture, and permanent threat during the period the conflict lasted. The perception of teachers about social, educational, and cultural changes in the life of the people from Ayacucho are proof that they consider their work important, and make a clear criticism of educational policies, and perceive the social repudiation of the initiative to assume the education issue in the classroom. In the perception related to culture and education, they express that the Department of Education has not had a defined policy on how to handle the armed conflict. This enhances the persecution that still exists towards anyone who promotes any kind of "violence speech", which is punished with jail, and in the case of teachers it may even lead to the end of their teaching career. The education in Ayacucho has currently improved regarding the focus on education, coverage, infrastructure, and other aspects; however, the situation of teachers stricken by violence has not been met by the State yet through the appropriate organizations: The Health Department and the Education Department. Therefore, performing a deeper study on the consequences of the conflict among teachers is deemed important. (Orig.).
