Abstract	This article presents a blended-learning project which brought together students of Humboldt-University Berlin, the University of Siegen and the University of Paris 3 - Sorbonne Nouvelle. Working in binational tandems, students discussed complex topics such as multilingualism, multiliteracies, Bildung/culture/identity, and task-based language learning in synchronous and asynchronous communication processes (via Moodle, Skype etc.). Based on their own multimedia-based, multilingual, and intercultural experiences in the project, they developed tasks for learners at school. For research purposes, students were asked about their own use of media, their experiences with similar projects, and their views on practicability of multimedia-based and intercultural learning scenarios in school contexts. The results reveal the high potential of the project for fostering the processes of Bildung among future teachers: it helps them to initiate motivational and intercultural processes and to develop their own professional identity.
