Abstract | The National Year of Reading, launched in January, is intended "offer the chance to create a network of activity and engagement, which will move the literacy agenda to the next level and lead to a lasting legacy in attitudes, activity and participation, and put in place the building blocks for systemic change..." The people behind National Institute of Adult Continuing Education (NIACE) is advocating for more and better learning, for more learners, particularly those who may be most disadvantaged by their skills. As a member of the consortium advising on the National Year of Reading, NIACE is looking for ways to best support those working with adults and young people, and to make the most of the year, and use it to engage people and excite them. In this article, the author describes the plans of NIACE to support those working with adult learners to make most of the opportunities offered by the National Year of Reading. (ERIC). |
