Abstract | In Finland the organization of post-compulsory education, vocational as well as the general/academic one traditionally comes close to a strictly structured model. From the beginning of the nineties, there has been some movement towards more open study programme structures. The paper addresses the problem of students' motives in constructing their study programmes with increased flexibility created by the experimental reform of upper secondary education. First, some basic features of the reform are outlined and then some results of a questionnaire study on students' motives are reported and discussed. (DIPF/orig.). |
