Abstract	A "cityscape" is defined as an artistic representation of an urban environment. Artistic representations can take shape through narrative, mythology, performance, or visual metaphor. Cities are extremely complex and dynamic entities, offering substantial assets toward the re-envisioning of art education in contemporary society. In this article, Bey explores the potential of narrative for unveiling the curricular value of places within city neighborhoods. Through story, places become cultural sites for exploring, connecting, layering, and contesting meanings. By evoking conversations on lived histories through artifacts and various media, community members and students can play an active role in how neighborhood histories are remembered. Bey concludes that, by way of the art classroom, students can reactivate perceivably dormant spaces, rediscover forgotten local heroes, and impress upon collective memories through making connections, deconstructing meanings, or making artistic creations.
