Abstract | This document consists of ten annual Spanish Language Bulletins, published during the period 1987-1996. The early bulletins were largely composed of selections originally published in the Bernard van Lear Foundation's English-Language "Newsletter The articles discuss topics such as: (1) parents as children's first teachers; (2) health and nutrition; (3) play; (4) adolescent parents; (5) family involvement in children's care and education; (6) home visits; (7) communicating messages about child care; (8) bilingualism; (9) excerpts from the tenth international seminar of the Bernard van Leer Foundation; (10) the "De nino a nino" approach in which children help other children and their communities; (11) community financing of education; (12) the participation of parents, teachers, communities, and governments in fostering infant development; (13) the role of fathers; (14) children in situations of war and conflict; (15) young children's transition from home to school; (16) women and child care; (17) the changing family structure; (18) the early years as the foundation of learning throughout life; and (19) advocating for children's rights.
