Abstract | The sixth biennial National Survey of Fringe Benefits in Public Schools focuses on a wide range of fringe benefit practices offered all professional personnel. Data were collected from a national panel sample stratified by enrollment size and are reported separately for large, medium, small, and very small systems for five levels of per pupil expenditure and for eight geographic regions. This volume covers fringe benefits for superintendents. Included are salary, length of contract, years of service, and data on other benefits, such as individual life insurance and annuity programs, that are of particular relevance to the position of superintendents. The 32 summmary tables included are based on data received for the 1985-86 school year from the 967 school systems that responded to the survey. Tables 1 through 30 present detailed summaries and distribution data for fringe benefit provisions tabulated by enrollment group, including data from responding systems. Table 31 summarizes by per pupil expenditure level the percentage of respondents providing the fringe benefits included in tables 1 through 30, and table 32 summarizes the same data on the basis of geographic locations. Highlights of the survey, by percentage figures, are provided, and the data tables are preceded by an introduction describing the scope of the study and sample design. (CJH) |
