| Abstract | Results are summarized of a questionnaire study of administrative salaries in 135 state-supported universities representing 49 states and 25 university systems in 19 states. The study is the twelfth annual survey conducted by the University of Arkansas of 12-month administrative salaries paid at major state institutions in the U.S. The universities are not identified with their salaries, but the data are distributed by rank-order. The first part of the study reports salaries paid among all participating universities. The second part shows a series of tables giving the salaries paid among the 135 participants arranged into the 10 regions as defined by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. In the third part, tables show the salaries paid university system officers. A university system is defined as one that has a separate administrative structure for a system of multiple general academic institutions, at least one of which has offerings at the doctorate-granting level.
