Abstract | The approach of the University of California at Berkeley to policies and planning of administrative data processing systems, specifically, the transition from centrally-planned and implemented administrative information systems to user planned systems is examined. In analyzing the history of this change both the philosophy and the mechanisms used to accomplish it are discussed. A system installed in the University's Office of Admissions and Records under the central concept is contrasted with the prospects for systems under the new policy. (Author) |
