AbstractA project was conducted to develop and field test self-instructional materials which would provide a mechanism for positive change in attitudes and procedures for educators and administrators toward integrating handicapped students into regular vocational education programs. Specific objectives of the project were as follows: (1) research and develop five booklets describing the special needs of handicapped students and the problems they face as they enter the regular classroom environment (the booklets were designed for vocational education teachers, school administrators, university teacher educators, and workshop directors; topics covered mainstreaming handicapped students into the regular classroom, characteristics of handicapped students, evaluation and placement, architectural considerations for a barrier free environment, and a system for management); (2) disseminate the final products to teachers, administrators, and teacher educators; (3) establish a state-wide advisory committee to assist in the development and dissemination of the project booklets. (Appendixes, which make up the greater part of the document, contain a list of steering committee members, bibliography, evaluative summary, quarterly report, production schedule, flyer, letter to vocational directors, dissemination list, and independent project evaluation.)
