Abstract	This study is based on the results of two identical attitude instruments that were administered to students at Kent State University before and after the shooting of four students by National Guardsmen on May 4, 1970. The attitude instruments had been constructed to permit interconcept comparisons with one data collection. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the events surrounding May 4th had significantly influenced the attitudes of Kent State undergraduates. On a scale of 1 through 9, the students were asked to rate 38 variables concerning (1) how they expected Kent State University to be, (2) Kent State Students, (3) Kent State faculty, (4) the ideal teacher, (5) the real self, and (6) the ideal self. The findings indicated that after the May 4 events the students viewed the University, the faculty, and themselves as more friendly and personable than before. (AF)
