Abstract | This article tries to examine structural factors of violence at school through a sociological perspective on school segregation process. The underlying hypothesis is that segregation is the result of multiple interactive mecanisms of external and internal origins (social segregation of residence, parents consumerism, competition between state schools). It is developed in a context of high stakes and negative ethnicized discourse on urban violence. School segregation must be analysed as a school population differenciation inside the "local school market" and inside a specific school, through streaming. The problem of career differenciation - between teaching staff and non teaching staff - in schools at risk must be taken into consideration. (DIPF/orig.) |
