Abstract | This dissertation examines teaching with the interactive whiteboard and its impact on student achievement outcomes for grade 5 students of economic disadvantage. It is a quantitative retrospective posttest only comparison group study. State assessment scores of low SES students at two grade 5 centers were compared. The scores that were compared were the 2011 spring math, reading and science TAKS scores. The TAKS test was a standardized state assessment. This data was collected through the Texas Education Agency. Independent samples t tests revealed that low SES grade 5 students being taught with interactive whiteboards earned significantly higher TAKS scores, towards learning, in reading, math, and science than low SES grade 5 students being taught without the use of interactive whiteboards.
