AbstractIn the past decade, traditional classroom teaching models have been transformed in order to better promote active learning and learner engagement. "Implementation and Critical Assessment of the Flipped Classroom Experience" seeks to capture the momentum of non-traditional teaching methods and provide a necessary resource for individuals who are interested in taking advantage of this pedagogical endeavor. Using narrative explanations and foundation materials provided by experienced instructors, this premier reference work presents the benefits and challenges of flipped methodology implementation in today's classroom to educators and educational administrators across all disciplines and levels. After a preface by the editor, the following chapters are included: (1) Flipping First-Year English: Strengthening Teacher-Student Conferencing through Online Modules (Dana Edwards Prodoehl); (2) Ideation to Execution: Flipping an Undergraduate Pre-Calculus Course to Create Significant Learning Experiences (Denise Natasha Brewley, Priya Shilpa Boindala, and Jennifer L. Sinclair); (3) Flipping the Composition Classroom (Susan Crisafulli); (4) Strategies to Transform the Foreign Language Classroom and Increase Learning Outcomes with the Flipped Model (Esperanza Granados-Bezi); (5) The Acrobatics of Flipping: Reorienting the Learning Experience of the First Accounting Course (David Starr-Glass); (6) How Students in a First-Year Composition Course Respond to the Flipped Classroom (Christina R. Grimsley); (7) The View from a Flipped Classroom: Improved Student Success and Subject Mastery in Organic Chemistry (Bridget G. Trogden); (8) A Challenge for the Flipped Classroom: Addressing Spatial Divides (Russell G. Carpenter, Charlie Sweet, Hal Blythe, Rachel Winter, and Adam Bunnell); (9) Flipping the Classroom: Challenges of Implementation (Jamie Gardner); (10) Preparing University Students for Flipped Learning (Linda Cresap); (11) The Peer Instruction Flipped Learning Model (Troy Faulkner and Jennifer Green); (12) Virtually Sound: Flipped Classrooms and Other Learning Spaces (Frances Di Lauro); and (13) Harnessing Technology to Help Students Reveal an Authentic Research Process: Pictorial and Video Research Steps (Lisa Beckelhimer).
