Abstract | This paper notes the decline of civic participation in the United States, focusing on youth disengagement. It discusses the role of schools in promoting civic education and awareness of international policy. The paper discusses three examples of civic education programs now being offered at the secondary school level: (1) Choices in Education Project; (2) The Capitol Forum; and (3) Operation Day's Work.
