Abstract	In recent years dramatic events in the course of the German unification process, such as series of politically motivated acts of aggression by young people against asylum seekers, have led to an increase in scientific efforts to understand and ultimately prevent aggression and political orientations favoring aggressiveness.... Current theoretical approaches addressing adolescents' aggressiveness and related antiforeigner attitudes focus on adverse consequences of modernization. However, these approaches often neglects factors on the microsocial level.... The results of the study presented in this contribution show that East and West German adolescents' aggressive and antiforeigner attitudes are linked to stressful experiences in school and family but also to societal conditions as perceived by the adolescents.
