AbstractPeter Senge's message during the 2005 American Association of School Administrators (AASA) conference reminded people that they live not only in a school system, but also within a highly diverse, global community. Their individual and organizational policies, practices, and behaviors, can and do impact the learning experience for those they educate. In this article, the author cites the contentions made by several researchers on ethics and cultural competence. He also mentions a statewide competence summit conducted by the state of Oregon in 2004. Lastly, the author presents a solution for transforming administrators, teachers and schools to the ethical, culturally competent workplaces where all students live and learn in harmony and justice.
