| Abstract | The reflecting team has been a respected mode of therapeutic intervention since psychiatrist Tom Anderson first proposed the concept in 1985 (Anderson, 1991). The notion of a team observing the therapist conducting a session, the reflecting team reflecting on the session in the presence of the client (either behind a one-way mirror or in person), followed by the therapist and the client reflecting on the reflections, has proven to be highly effective treatment (Anderson, 1991; Friedman 1995). The art therapy literature contains little on incorporating this technique aside from a presentation in 2001 at the AATA Conference (Klijn, Scheller, & Riley). In conversation, some art therapists say they have used this mode of therapy in their work but have not published the results. The purpose of this article is to stimulate interest in the reflecting-team approach in the field of art therapy. (Author). |
